The Falcon Dry Ring pipe filters are not as much filters as they are pipe cleaners. These filters sit in the base of the stem and absorb the "goo" from the tobacco as it runs through the base of the bowl. Shake out after each smoke and replacing for every new bowl is the recipe for having a perfectly flavorful smoke in your Falcon pipe.

I don’t know if these are ONLY for Falcon pipes or not, but they don’t work very well for a non-Falcon pipe. Glad they weren’t expensive.

Easy to install. Adds to smoking experience (took awhile to locate a place to purchase)
My falcon pipe has been my go to pipe. It is comfortable in the mouth and doesn't cause much of a tongue bite. Hope to have the pipe for along time, now that I can keep it clean.

Two questions: Are they necessary? Are they a little pricey? No, they are not necessary but they are super convenient and fast! You can go to the trouble of cutting your own but they might not be uniform in size and won't have the striped wire to fit into the draw hole to secure them, but yes you can cut them. Which brings me to the pricey question. At $4 a pop, you cannot beat the price and I have tried! Some sites want upward of $6 a bag. At that price, I might be tempted to just cut my own. But at Tobacco Pipes great price just lay in 5 or 10 bags and enjoy a consistently dry cool smoke. Highly recommended! Semper Fi Mike

Work as intended, but so do cut pipe cleaners
I got a pack of these to try with my new Falcon pipe. They last for 2 bowls at the most for me. While they are not expensive, I found I could get 3 or 4 doing it myself cutting a standard pipe cleaner. I may keep some on hand for convenience but plan on making them myself.

They work well
These dry rings work well in trapping moisture and reducing the potential for thermal tongue bite caused by the steam created by some tobacco as they burn. More convenient than making them myself from cotton pipe cleaners.

Very Effective
I like these a lot, these keep any moisture under the bowl and don't allow for it to travel down the stem. They also keep any small tobacco particles from the bowl out of the stem.
